**BAR GATHERING**

At The Bar With Col Stuart Tootal DSO

Sunday Time Best Selling Author Col Stuart Tootal led 3PARA in Afghanistan in 2006, spearheading the UK's first Helmand mission.
"Not a single shot would be fired", said the then Labour Defense Secretary John Reid, as they went in. 500,000 rounds later, 3PARA participated in probably the fiercest fighting since WW2.
Stuart will share his views on Afghanistan, Ukraine and other topical subjects to those gathering “at the bar”, 7pm on Monday 13th February.

Upstairs and Downstairs will then merrily join for dinner at around 9pm.

Format

In 2005, there was an informal group, One W, that met on the first Wednesday of every month at the bar 192.

A famous politician would circulate amongst the gathered. (Boris Johnson, David Cameron and Jeffrey Archer all appeared.)

It worked really well. People could ask questions one-to-one or in groups of 3 or so. And as the said celeb circulated, everyone had their chance to engage.

So we are trying out what was excellent format again on 13th Feb.

Meet the Sunday Times Best Selling author who commanded 3PARA during the first (hairraising) 2006 Helmand campaign.
