General Backgammon Rules

Revellers' Club Backgammon House Rules

  1. Players play one game, then move on to another player. (Where possible, don’t play the same player twice.)

  2. If you finish early, get a drink at the bar (it’s in the room we’re playing in) until someone comes free!

  3. Whoever wins the most games by 9 pm wins a bottle of champagne.

Scoring

We are keeping things simple!

If you win your game, write that down on the paper provided along with your opponent's name. You play just one game before moving on to your next opponent. If you win more games than anyone else, at 8.30 pm you will be presented with a bottle of Brinkley's fabulous House Champagne.

There will be no points, doubling dice, gammoning etc.

Just record the number of games you win.

About the Doubling Cube

At the start of the game, the Cube shows 64 facing up. It has no value unless a player offers to "double". If accepted by the other player, the Cube is "doubled" - so turned.

After the first double, 2 is shown facing up. After the next, it's 4. Then it's 8, 16 and so on.

BUT THE MAXIMUM IT CAN SHOW ON 21ST MARCH IS 4,

BECAUSE THERE CAN ONLY BE 2 DOUBLES PER GAME.

If you offer a double, your opponent must accept. Otherwise he/she forfeits the game. You then get all the points at stake before the start of your turn.

Once your opponent accepts your double, you can only double again after they’ve doubled you.

When your game is over, if the Doubling Cube has been turned, the winner multiplies the facing up number by 1. Otherwise the winner wins 1 point.

Whoever accumulates most points by 9pm wins a bottle of the excellent Brinkleys House Champagne.
